Black's 5th Grade

January

Welcome Back!

Students have their new AR goals and should be reading each night for 30 minutes.  I am working with the students to set a weekly goal so they are on track to meet their goal.  I will be sending updates home so everyone is aware of their progress.  Please check their AR logs in the front of the agenda to see how they are doing. The students are to read 30 minutes each night. This will improve their reading skills

Many students still do not know their multiplication facts. I added a link below for them to get online to practice - this can help them improve in math. .  We are in a portable so you may want to let your child keep a rain jacket at school or an umbrella.  Personally I use a jacket because a hood seems so much easier than an umbrella when we are moving about. Students will wait in the B Hallway each morning if they arrive before 7:20.  I will walk them to the classroom.  We will have time for a healthy working snack each day so feel free to send one end each day.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I look forward to a wonderful year.

Please read over Dress Code - we have reviewed in class and we will be adhering to the dress code this year. Thanks for your help with this:)

Lunch this year will be from 12:00 to 12:25

If you would like to order from Scholastic please click on the link below.  Books will be shipped to school and I will send them home. Our class code is J2H9B

HOMEWORK

Math - No Homework this week except AR
Science - No Homework this week except AR

Students need to read 30 minutes each night.  Many students are not testing and if they are completing this homework it should not be a problem to make their goal.  Goals are on each students level and are based on 30 minutes of reading a day.  They also receive time to read each day so I expect all students to read each night and to make their AR goals.
