Blackman Elementary School Counseling Program 

Mission Statement 

The mission of the Blackman Elementary School comprehensive school counseling program is to provide a safe, positive learning environment that focuses on high expectations, which enables students to reach their full potential and promote lifelong learning. In partnership with teachers, administrators, families and a caring community, students receive assistance in mastering their academic, social/emotional, and college and career goals.  

Vision Statement 

The vision of Blackman Elementary School comprehensive school counseling program is for all students to persevere and achieve their fullest potential in their academic, social/emotional, and college and career goals. Through challenging academics, equitable access and use of technology, every student will possess the skills to be lifelong learners and leaders who are prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Our students are empathetic, creative, responsible, and productive college and career-ready citizens prepared to compete in a global society.  

Beliefs 

  • All students can achieve and meet high standards that will result in success. 
  • All students have the right to be served by the school counseling program. 
  • All students’ gender, ethnic, cultural, and racial differences and special needs are considered in the planning and implementation of the school counseling program. 
  • School counselors must advocate for each student and act as a leader in the building and school district. 
  • The school counseling program will be preventative in nature and developmentally appropriate to best meet the needs of the students. 
  • Student needs can be best met through a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program in collaboration with other stakeholders. 
  • Applying the ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors empowers school counselors to make decisions based on the highest moral principles to promote the maximum development of every student.
