Language Arts
We are enjoying reading the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan. We are comparing the troubles Esperanza and her family are facing to the Universal Document of Human Rights.
Skills we are focusing on:
* Quoting from a book accurately.
* Writing a structured paragraph.
* Vocabulary (using context clues and word affixes)
* Structures of a story (Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution)
* Metaphors and Similes
MATH
For the week of Tuesday, September 3-6. We are studying orders of operations and numerical expressions. We will have the end of Module Test on Monday, September 9.
SCIENCE
In Science, we are learning about temperature and location. We are looking at patterns in weather based on lines of latitude and how geographical features can influence temperature when cities are located at the same line of latitude.
In Social Studies we are looking at settlements established in Tennessee before statehood.
