Kindergarten Registration

Welcome to Blackman Elementary School! We look forward to working with you to ensure your child has a fantastic year of learning, growing, and making friends in Kindergarten!  
 
The first step is to register your child in Skyward for the 2026-2027 school year. Registration opens on April 15, 2026. You can set up an account or login to your existing Skyward account to enroll your new Kindergarten student.

Required Documentation:
  • Birth certificate
  • Most current TN immunization record
  • Current utility bill (gas, water or electric) in the guardian's name
*If the guardian does not have a utility bill in their name, an affidavit is required with proof of address detailed in affidavit.
 
After completing registration, you will receive an email with additional information on setting up a screening time for your child. Screenings will take place in early May and early August.
 
Important Dates:
Kindergarten Open House: Monday, August 10 from 5:00-6:00PM
Cohort A Phase-In Days: August 11-12
Cohort B Phase-In Days: August 13-14
First Full Day for All Kindergarteners: August 17
 
On the first day of school, you are encouraged to walk your kindergartener to class. This will allow you to witness the beginning of their exciting journey at Blackman Elementary. After this initial day, your child will continue to their classroom independently.

Pathways to Kindergarten Information Night (5:30-7:30 PM)
Join us to prepare your child for a joyful Kindergarten journey. This event is designed to help you and your child feel confident and ready for Kindergarten!
 
Event Details
Date: May 14, 2026
Time: 5:30-7:30PM - Dinner begins at 5:30PM. The Pathways to Kindergarten presentation starts promptly at 6:00PM. All participants must be in the building no later than 6:00PM.
Who May Attend: Limited to 2 adults and 4 children per family. 
 
During this evening, you will discover simple ways to support Kindergarten readiness and learn what to expect during your child's first year of school. Dinner will be provided, and while children are not required to attend, they are welcome. Childcare will be available for children ages 3 and up.
 
This event is hosted by Rutherford County Schools and United Way of South Central Tennessee.
